This course addresses sex trafficking (also known as sexual exploitation) and the lodging industry's role in detecting and reducing/eliminating trafficking. Hotels provide the perfect place for sex trafficking. Hotel operators and managers must train their staff to be aware of multiple signs occurring simultaneously to indicate human trafficking. Hotels should partner with governmental and non-governmental entities to help eliminate the problem and protect themselves. Hotels, owners, and managers can be found liable are receive jail time and substantial fines if they ignore the signs of sex trafficking.
