Human Resources has a duty to ensure all employees are treated fairly. Areas of concern include bullying, sexual harassment, discrimination, prejudice, stereotyping, and bias. Micro-messages, micro-inequities, and micro-affirmations can cause tension in the workplace and result in a failure to protect the hotel staff. Prejudice and bias can also result in illegal behaviors in hiring, promotions, and employment reviews. Managers must be proactive to protect employees and the hotel asset itself.
