Swimming pools are high-risk areas that also serve as indispensable assets for most hotels and resorts. It is hard to think of a more injury-prone, perpetually dangerous place than a swimming pool. Lawsuits involving swimming pools at hotels, motels, or resorts usually are due to defective design, inadequate fencing, failure to post signs stating that lifeguards are not on duty, inadequate pool supervision, and poor pool maintenance. Hotels have a duty to protect guests who choose to use a hotel pool.
